Written by Chapel Hill biologist and Online Community Manager at PLoS-ONE Bora Zivkovic, this science blog is consistently concerned with actual scientific things and the posts are often very informative and written in an accessible manner. All while managing to keep a refreshing distance from personal promotion and political passions, which can be a turn-off to the interested lay public.
Zivkovic's not entirely anonymous "Coturnix" (a genus of quail) posts often and supplies excellent links to further resources that will flesh* out details for his analyses, news announcements and promotions. He is an energetic cheerleader for the science blog community's efforts to help regular people understand more about science. A worthwhile read.
